The Grates

I'm completely obsessed with this video, from the song to the way the video is presented. I think that is a deffinate video that we should contemplate about aiming for. The black and white setting helps compliment the type of song, which is quite relaxed and mellow. Whereas, a faster song would be more suitable for a brightly contrasted video.
I think that the quick shots would be good and help allow us to add seleciton of different techniques such as, Extreme close up and wide shot, etc.

Been trying to think of bands which are simular to The XX, a band which we are swaying to choosing for our final song and all i can think of is a band which ive previously watched live back in 2009(?)
This band are more upbeat and faster than a typical XX song, however i can see some simularities.

After a sudden thought, i think that this would be an ideal song to create a video to, aswell. As this song narates a story, I think that it would be suitable to film the same story to fit the song.

I really like this technique used in this video, how there are two videos overlapped on top of eachother. I think that this is a really interesting looking technique and would be good to learn how to do.

YUCK

I feel that this would be a nice song to create a video to. The artists voice is quite autotuned which reminds me of 'Pumped Up Kicks' by 'Foster the People'. Using a song just like this would allow us to create a happy and summery video. I can picture the video to be containing quite a few handheld shots giving the video a 'home made' feel to it. Simular to its own video, (0.55 - 1.09 etc).

This band, YUCK is heavily inspired on bands such like;

Pavement & Dinosaur Jr

Green Screen Practise

This is a video that Mollie and Myself created for our first attempt at using the green screen. We've now learnt that certain colours will interfere with the itself, and so that that we should be careful when choosing our clothing for the final video.

The thing i love the most about this little video of Rizzle Kicks and Ed Sheeran video is how the technique they have on the film. I really like how they have made themselves sharp yet the background is blurry, and if this is an editing technique, i would be really interested into finding out how to create this type of look to use for our video!

Ive always liked how music videos occasionally put their lyrics in their videos. I think its a clever way to get their audience learning their words, and also i think that, if used in the correct way, it really helps make the video appear more interesting.
This ussually happens in video which are quite upbeat and cheerful, As i have yet to find a slow and emotional song using this technique.

The XX

We are thinking about deciding on The XX as they have quite a mellow feel to their songs, which we feel would be easy to display through our videos. They have songs which are would easily suit a black and white setting to the video as their music doesn't contain many upbeat songs.

Erik Hassle

I absolutely love this video! I think how the video is started by the still shots of the scenary could be really effective yet simple. I also like how this video doesnt use much lip syncing except for the chorus, which still looks really effective and may help us avoid any out of time lip syncing. The lighting is really suited for this video as its got quite a soft touch and in comparison to Nicola Roberts' videos its not as harsh nor bright.

Lastly, Erik Hassle has a very pretty song which features Ellie Goulding. This could be a possible track to think about, if we were swaying to having a mixed sex band. It also has no video for it, which is a bonus.

Whilst thinking about songs that we could cover, It came to attention that it may be easier to use a cover of a song. As we found many songs that we liked yet we felt we had noone with the confidence to act out as the certain artist. Also, with using a cover, It allows us to use the song that we want but means that it can be sung in a different way hopefully allowing us to find a more suitable actor or actress to fit the role.

Mac Miller

I felt that this would be a simple idea for a music video. As the video is filming the Artist walking around a city, It allows for the camera to be hand held. Allowing the filming to be shaky can help portray pace of his walking, which is shown nicely in this video.

I also think how Mac Miller video's are introduced are interesting and would be a good way to incorperate other techniques. As this video has the title being written 15seconds into the video.

If planning to be a well known artist, This idea could end up being a trademark linking all videos together, Simular to how Jason Derulo introduces his songs.

Nicola Roberts

I like how Nicola Roberts videos are always strongly contrasted and vibrant. I think that the brightness helps compliment the music, as both songs are very upbeat.
I also think that both videos look very current and 'urban' which would help them attract the eyes of a more younger audience - an audience which she is most suited for. Urban being a new style which music videos are aiming for such like Example and DJ Fresh.

During the first year of Media

Mollie, Tasha and myself found ourselves preparing for this year by making a quick music video.

Due to its poor editing and lip syncing, It was found to be quite a humerous video yet it helped us get an early start to the year ahead.
